PRASUTI TANTRA AND STREEROGA is Ayurvedic Obstetrics and Gynaecology, where Prasuti-tantra deals with woman of reproductive age group whereas Streeroga delas with women’s health irrespective of their age group.
AIM AND SCOPE OF DEPARTMENT of PRASUTI TANTRA AND STREEROGA
Department of PRASUTI TANTRA AND STREEROGA aims at providing utmost Ayurveda care in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and deals with the prevention and treatment of female reproductive health and includes Garbhadhana samskara( Preconception care), Garbhini Paricharya (Antenatal care) , Sutika Paricharya (Postpartum care) , Post abortive treatment and Streeroga (Gynaec diseases) inclusive of Adolescent Gynaecology and Geriatric Gynaecology as well.
SCOPE OF PRASUTI TANTRA :
a) GARBHADHANA SAMSKARA
Garbhadhana samskara or Preconception care is given which aims at providing quality sperm and ovum and thereby procuring a Sreshta praja or a healthy progeny. The couple will be assessed in detail and shodhana or detoxification is done as per the prakruti/constitution and dosha based assessment along with preconceptional counselling which can ensure a good pregnancy outcome.
b) GARBHINI PARICHARYA
Garbhini Paricharya or antenatal care is provided which comprises of monthwise prescription of diet and medicaments for a healthy pregnancy course and outcome . Basti treatment and Yoni pichu is offered to pregnant women during 9th month of pregnancy for ensuring a normal vaginal delivery. Antenatal care given also incorporates Fetal Upgradation by special antenatal techniques like Yoga, Pranayama, Music etc. Treatment for minor ailments in pregnancy is also provided.
c) SUTIKA PARICHARYA
Sutika paricharya or Post partum care is given to post delivered women where phase-wise diet and medications along with external treatment procedures are advised , which can ensure a healthy transition to pre-pregnant state and quality breastmilk as well. Post abortive care and treatment is also provided.
SCOPE OF STREEROGA :
a) ADOLESCENT GYNAECOLOGY
Adolescent Gynaecological issues are diagnosed and managed along with proper menstrual hygiene education.
b) REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGY
Utmost Ayurvedic Treatment for Streerogas like Artava dushti ( menstrual disorders), Yonivyapad ( Female genital tract disorders) , Asrigdara (Abnormal Uterine Bleeding ) ,Vandhya ( Infertility) Rajonivruttijanya vyadhis ( Perimenopausal syndrome ) and Stana rogas ( Benign Breast diseases)
Management of PCOS, Endometriosis, Dysmenorrhoea, PMS (Premenstrual syndrome) ,Vaginitis, Pelvic inflammatory disease , Infertility , Uterine Fibroid, Genito-urinary Prolapse, Benign breast diseases like Fibroadenoma, Fibrocystic disease etc are done which comes under the above ‘Streeroga’ purview.
c) MENOPAUSAL AND GERIATRIC GYNAECOLOGY
Perimenopausal syndrome is managed with medicaments and external treatment procedures for a healthy menopausal transition. Geriatric gynaec issues are also addressed and managed accordingly.
SCOPE OF STHAANIKA CHIKITSA IN STREEROGA :
Sthaanika chikitsa or local Treatment for streeroga like Yonikshalana, Yonipichu ,Yoni Purana, Yoni varti , Yoni Abhyanga, , Yonidhoopana, Uttarabasti , Yoni Ksharakarma etc are also provided under all aspetic precautions.
i. Yoni Abhyanga – massage of yoni ( vagina) with medicated taila (oil) or ghrita (ghee)
ii. Yoni kshalana – procedure in which Yoni or vaginal canal is washed with decoctions
iii. Yoni Pichu – cotton tampon dipped in medicated taila (oil) or ghrita (ghee) is introduced into vagina
iv. Yoni purana – vaginal cavity is filled with powders or paste of oushadha dravyas.
v. Yoni varti – medicated suppositories are introduced into vagina
vi. Yonidhoopana – medicated smoke is used for treatment , where fumigation of genitalia is done by Dhoopana dravyas
vii. Uttarabasti – Procedure in which intra-uterine instillation of medicines are done
viii. Yoni Ksharakarma –it is a parasurgical procedure where application of Kshara is done on cervix.
